We talk a lot about the cookware we make.

We talk about the weight of a skillet, how it feels in your hand, how it cooks, and why we believe cookware should be built to last for generations.

But behind every Lancaster Cast Iron skillet is a person.

Our production manager, Lucas Huber, was named Best Craftsman at the Discover Lancaster Host Awards.

The Work Behind Every Skillet

If you've ever held a Lancaster Cast Iron skillet, you've probably noticed the details.

The smooth cooking surface. The comfortable shape. The way the pan feels lighter in your hand than traditional cast iron.

Those details don't happen by accident.

Lucas leads the team responsible for machining, sanding, and finishing every pan that leaves our shop. It is work that requires skill, patience, and a real commitment to getting things right.

A skillet may look simple when it is sitting on your stovetop. But a lot goes into making one.

The Standard Starts With the People

At Lancaster Cast Iron, we talk about making the highest-quality cookware possible.

But the truth is, that standard only exists because of the people behind it.

The people who show up every day and pay attention to the details.

The people who take pride in making something that may eventually become part of someone else's family for decades.

Lucas is one of those people.

His attention to detail, leadership, and commitment to doing things the right way have played a huge role in shaping the cookware that leaves our shop every day.

And while an award is a wonderful recognition of that work, the impact of what he does can be seen in every skillet that makes its way into a kitchen.

A Lancaster Craftsman

We are especially proud to see Lucas recognized by Discover Lancaster.

Lancaster County has always had a strong tradition of craftsmanship and making things well. It is a place where people understand the value of skill, hard work, and taking pride in what you create.

That makes this recognition especially meaningful to us.

Lancaster Cast Iron is proud to be part of that tradition.

Our skillets are made here in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, by people who care about the work they do. And Lucas is a big part of that story.

Lucas, congratulations.

We are grateful to have you on our team, and we are proud of the work you do every day.

Thank you for leading with care, for holding us to a high standard, and for helping make every Lancaster Cast Iron skillet a little better.

Classic Cherry Skillet Pie with Red Wine

Classic Cherry Skillet Pie with Red Wine

This is a classic cherry pie at heart: a buttery, flaky crust, plenty of juicy cherries, and a sweet-tart filling that bubbles into the crust as it bakes. The little twist is a splash of red wine in the filling, it doesn't overpower the cherries, but adds a subtle richness and brings out their deeper, almost jammy flavor. Baked in cast iron, the crust turns beautifully golden and crisp while the filling bubbles around the edges.

Classic Stuffed Peppers

Classic Stuffed Peppers

Stuffed peppers are one of those timeless dinners that never really need reinventing. Sweet bell peppers are filled with a hearty mixture of browned beef, tender rice, tomato, onion, and herbs, then baked until the peppers are perfectly tender and the cheese on top is melted and golden. Cooking them in cast iron gives the tomato sauce and beef filling beautifully caramelized edges and makes this an easy, comforting meal to bring straight from the oven to the table.

Made start to finish in the Lancaster No. 8 Skillet, it’s an easy side that feels special enough for a holiday table but simple enough for a weeknight dinner.
