One of the greatest multi-taskers in the kitchen, spurtles can replace almost any cooking utensil. Spurtles are ideal for stirring batter, whisking eggs, frying omelets, icing cakes, straining veggies and so much more. The Lancaster Cast Iron spurtle set includes one regular spurtle as well as a slotted spurtle. Handmade by Amish craftsmen in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, our spurtles are designed to be ergonomic in your hand and easy to hold. Both spurtles in this set are 12” long and are easy to clean with warm soapy water. We recommend periodically using our food-grade wood wax on all of your wooden kitchen utensils in order to maintain a long life in your kitchen.
Spurtles were originally designed in the Highlands of Scotland in the 1400s. They are still popular today and were originally created for stirring porridge. Our take on the original design has lead to an elongated kitchen tool that can still be used for making oatmeal but also serves many other uses in the 21st-century kitchen.
All of our wooden kitchen utensils and tools are made by Amish woodworkers and artisans. Our spurtle set is made from a hardwood native to the Eastern United States, the American Black Cherry. We strive to keep our supply chain and partnerships as local as possible. Each regular and slotted spurtle tells a small part of that story. Our passion is to design cooking tools that enrich your life through time spent making delicious food, enjoying home-cooked meals, and building relationships around the dining table. All of our kitchenware products are designed and made in the USA and come with a Lifetime Guarantee.
