FAQs
Please read our FAQs page to find out more.
What is the difference between a cutting board, serving board, and charcuterie board?
While each board is designed for a specific use, all our wooden boards are incredibly versatile and can be used throughout the kitchen and home.
- Cutting boards are ideal for everyday food preparation, from chopping vegetables and slicing fruit to preparing meats and breads. They can also be used as serving boards for cheeses, appetizers, and more.
- Serving boards are designed with presentation and carrying in mind, but they can also be used for cutting, food preparation, or as a beautiful surface for serving breads, desserts, cheeses, and appetizers.
- Charcuterie boards are perfect for arranging meats, cheeses, fruit, and appetizers, but their uses extend well beyond charcuterie. They can be used as cutting boards, serving boards, or even as a centerpiece for displaying food.
The biggest difference is really the shape, size, and style, not what you are limited to using each board for. Choose the board that fits your needs and make it your own, our wooden boards are made to be used, shared, and enjoyed in many different ways.
How should I clean my wooden board?
Wooden boards are easy to care for with a little regular attention. After each use, hand-wash your board with warm water, a small amount of mild dish soap, and a soft sponge or cloth. Clean both sides of the board, especially if they have come into contact with food or moisture.
Avoid soaking your board or leaving it submerged in water, as wood naturally absorbs moisture. Never place a wooden board in the dishwasher, where prolonged exposure to heat and water can cause the wood to warp, crack, or separate.
After washing, rinse the board thoroughly and dry it promptly with a clean towel. Then stand it upright or place it on its edge so air can circulate around both sides while it finishes drying. Avoid laying a wet board flat on the counter, as trapped moisture underneath can prevent it from drying evenly.
For best results, condition your board with our Wood Wax whenever the wood begins to look dry or pale. Regular washing, thorough drying, and occasional conditioning will help keep your board beautiful and performing well for years to come.
Are knife marks on a wooden board normal?
Yes. Knife marks are a natural part of using a genuine wooden cutting or serving board and will not affect its performance. If you're using a knife on a cutting board that doesn't show marks (like glass or stone), then your knife is taking the force, dulling it with each use. Knife marks are a good thing!
Over time, light marks can be smoothed with fine-grit sandpaper. After sanding, remove the dust and reapply your Wood Wax to restore and protect the finish.
How can I prevent my wooden board from cracking or warping?
Avoid soaking your board, placing it in the dishwasher, or leaving it near strong heat or direct sunlight. Wash and dry both sides evenly, store it where air can circulate, and condition it whenever the wood begins to look dry.
Because wood naturally responds to changes in moisture and humidity, consistent cleaning and conditioning are the best ways to keep your board stable, beautiful, and ready for years of use.
How long will wooden boards last?
With proper care, a quality wooden cutting or serving board can last for decades. Ours are made from premium Pennsylvania hardwood and designed for everyday use, making them kitchen tools that can be used, loved, and passed down for generations. We proudly back every product with a lifetime warranty.
