How we make our wooden spoons
Hand-carved by local Amish craftsmen and artisans, Lancaster wood spoons are made from sustainably harvested from American Black Cherry trees. Cherry is native to the Eastern United States and is the ideal hardwood for hand-carved spoons. Each wood spoon is individually cut and sanded smooth. Our wooden spoons are ready for immediate use in your kitchen.
Using your wooden spoon
Our wood spoon is one of our most versatile cooking utensils. It is useful for cooking sauces, stirring vegetables, and serving at the dining room table. Unlike metal spoons, traditional hand-made wooden spoons do not transfer heat during cooking and are safe to use on all cooking surfaces, including your cast iron skillet
How to care for wooden spoons
Lancaster Cast Iron spoons are oiled with food-grade mineral oil to preserve them for a lifetime of use in your kitchen. After each use, hand wash with warm soapy water and towel dry your wooden serving spoon. Periodically maintain with food-grade oil or cutting board wax to keep the wood from drying out.
