How we make our handmade slotted spoons

Our large 12” slotted spoon is made by Amish craftsmen in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Each cooking spoon is made from locally harvested hardwoods including Eastern Black Cherry, Maple, and Black walnut, all of which are native to Pennsylvania. We sand our spoons to give them a smooth surface and they are oiled with food-grade mineral oil so that they are ready for immediate use in your kitchen.

What is a slotted spoon used for?

Slotted wooden spoons are useful for food preparation and cooking that requires a cooking utensil that will allow the liquid to drain while holding the solid foods in the bowl of the spoon. This cooking spoon is best for preparing and serving pasta, vegetables, and rice. It makes a great addition to our handmade wooden spoon set or our slotted spatula.

How to care for your wooden slotted spoon

For a long life in your kitchen, Lancaster wooden spoons should be maintained with wood butter or butcher block oil. Periodic applications will keep the wood moisturized. After each use, wash with warm soapy water and towel dry.
